Created by Always Wear Red founder Michael Owen, and friend Paul Lancaster, PIONEERS is a Portrait photography exhibition celebrating 20 pioneers that have impacted positively on the North East.

Inspired by 10 Women and 10 Men, Michael and Paul photographed 20 pioneers that will be exhibited at various locations around the North of England in part or as a whole, during 2018 and 2019.

Earlier this week, Michael revealed the portraits of the 10 pioneering women, one of which was our very own Kate Dawson.

From a Mum of two to a successful entrepreneur, The idea began, as good ideas usually do, by needing to find a solution to a problem.

Kate's daughter Lilly, had trouble sleeping at night. Lilly would often wake feeling cold, but her little feet still warm.

Trying to find a warm fleecy sleep suit for children over 18 months of age to keep Lilly warm at night seemed like an impossible ask. Kate searched up and down the high street but not one single snuggly sleep suit could be found.

Research lead her to making some prototypes. Kate wanted to create Onesies that were available in every size. As most sleepsuits came with attached feet, and poor Lilly’s feet were warm even when the rest of her wan’t, Kate was inspired to create a website that allowed you to Create-your-Own Onesie where you could design your Onesie to fit your individual needs.

On 19th October 2008 The All-in-One Company was born, bringing with it the birth of the Original Create-your-Own All-in-One Onesie.

10 years on, Kate and her team of Master Craftsmen have handmade over 67,000 Onesies, right here in the UK, delivering to over 200 different countries worldwide.
