International Day of Charity 2018

Today is the international day of Charity. Every year, charities all over the world help to save and improve people’s lives, fighting disease, protecting children, and giving hope to many thousands of people. In 2012 the United Nations decided to nominate an annual International Day of Charity as an official day of recognition and celebration. The reason the date was chosen is because it is the anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. This choice commemorates the tireless work that Mother Teresa did by devoting her whole life to charity work. To celebrate this special day every year, the work of different charities all over the word is publicised and celebrated, and people are encouraged to donate money and time, to carry out charitable works, and also to educate people and raise awareness about the many charitable issues worldwide.

Since 2008, we have taken part in raising money for various charities including;

Children in Need

CIN

We’ve raised lots in our spots for Children in Need with lots of yummy bake sales.

Children in Need are a huge charity that provide grants to projects in the UK which focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged. We are local to people in all corners of the UK and support small and large organisations which empower children and extend their life choices.

Their vision is that every child in the UK has a childhood which is safe, happy, secure and allows them the chance to reach their potential.

Cash for Kids

Cash for kids

Steven & Karen from Metro Radio worked with us in 2013 when they teamed up with the fashion and textiles students at Gateshead College. Their task was to design the ultimate, bespoke christmas onesie which The All-in-One Company hand-made. The finished onesies were then auctioned off with the money raised going towards Cash for Kids, which is then used to support disabled and disadvantaged children living here in the North East.

We have also donated over 30 gorgeous little blankets to keep rescue and orphan hedgehogs such as Titch, at the Cleveland Hedgehog Preservation Society (CHPS), and Northumbrian Hedgehog Rescue, nice and cosy.

The Northumbrian Hedgehog Rescue Trust is a rescue centre in Northumberland and a dedicated team of volunteers do their utmost to assist in caring for these adorable little creatures until they are ready to be released back into the wild. Each year, the Trust care for between 300 and 400 hedgehogs and release around 90% of them back into the wild to produce the next generation. The Trust have no other funding other than occasional grants, personal donations and monies raised from their own fundraising activities. They are then greatly appreciative of anything other donations they receive.

Cleveland Hedgehog Preservation Society (CHPS)  looks after hundreds of abandoned, orphaned or injured hedgehogs every year. Chairman Chris Firth and his wife Barbara looked after hedgehogs for over 16 years at their home in Billingham and now support the society’s 86 members and 10 volunteer carers.

Byte Night

Byte Night is a national sleep-out event and the biggest annual fundraiser held by Action for Children – a charity that has been helping children and young people since 1869, making them one of the oldest children’s charities in the UK.

Each year, hundreds of like minded people from the technology and business arena give up their beds for one night to help change the lives of vulnerable young people.

In 2016, we got involved by donating onesies to the 13 board members who took part in the North-East event.

We'll also be supporting Byte Night again this year.

The National Autistic Society

NAS logo

It is estimated that more than one in 100 people are on the autism spectrum and in the UK there are around 700,000 people affected by this lifelong developmental disability.

Working alongside The National Autistic Society, we wanted to create clothing that could make everyone feel Snuggeltastic®.

NAS arranged for children with Autism to come and visit us here at The All-in-One Company to help us design a Onesie that was suitable to wear.

In March 2017, we launched the worlds first Sensory Onesie.

Sewn in a way that seams feel seamless, there is nothing that causes irritation. No labels are sewn into the Onesie, and you can request a complimentary fabric sample pack with our ‘Feel First’ service, so you can select the fabric that feels best for you.

There are absolutely no limitations, you can still design your Onesie exactly how you want it, from hoods, tails, feet, ears and even embroidery.

Inside the onesie, you’ll find a zip cover in the fabric you have selected so it’ll feel nice and soft against the skin. Any embroidery will also have a fabric backing to prevent any discomfort.

We're donating 5% of each Sensory Onesie sale to The National Autistic Society.

Bags have already gone to a number of good homes, including Usworth Quilters, Macmillan, Bede Academy, Goosehill County First School, Chantry Middle and King Edward VIl schools in Morpeth;  West Sleekburn Middle School, Ringway First School, Bedlington High School, The Dales School in Blyth, Grove Special School in Berwick, Blyth Community College, Ellington and Linton First Schools, the William Leech Campus in Lynemouth, Bothal and Hirst Park Middle schools in Ashington, John Ambulance Day Care Centre in Ashington, Chester Court Care Home, Bedlington, The People’s Animal Rescue and Rehoming Team in Amble, PAWS (People’s Animal Welfare Service) in Bedlington and Northern English Springer Spaniel Rescue in Red Row - to name a few!
