On Your Marks, Get Set Go... Carfest South 2016!

Carfest South returns next week, on Friday 26th - Sunday 28th August - and it sounds like it's going to be amazing!

Some of the acts that have been revealed include; The Darkness, Jools Holland, The Proclaimers, Will Young, Foxes, James Morrison, Rick Astley, Stereophonics, Ronan Keaton, Jamie Lawson, The Feeling.

Of course, it wouldn't be Carfest without Cars! Carfest Drivers will be performing stunts, burn outs, and wheel spins in their cars.

You'll be able to ride in your dream car, from privately owned sports cars and classics from Ferraris to Lamborghinis. Every ride raises money for Children In Need. Last year, a HUGE £111,300 was raised for the charity 'Truly ‘Dreamy’.

You'll be able to go on a journey through history from the vintage 30’s through to the swinging 60’s and groovy 70’s! Cafest's village street scene will be full of market traders, tea rooms, sweet shops, a florist, a vintage bakery, café, saloon bar, hair salon and even a beauticians - not to mention Car Club displays that will line the streets with cars appropriate to each era, from Morgan's to Porsches.

The festival will also include lots of delicious foods, cooking demonstrations, culinary lessons, talks and tastings. There'll be lots of activities for kids including explosive science, arts & crafts, survival tricks & skills, BMX stunt shows, a pushcart derby, the Shetland Pony Grand National and camel racing - and have we mentioned there'll be a drive-in cinema?! Of course the Carfest is all in aid of BBC Children in Need: ‘The charity supports over 2,600 projects that are working with children who have physical, sensory or mental disabilities, behavioural or psychological disorders, who are living in poverty or situations of deprivation, or are suffering through illness, distress, abuse or neglect.’ It’s a fabulous weekend and all for a great cause and we hope everyone heading to the Carfest has an amazing time!
