Find your Future - Northumberland Executive Women Network Event

Find your Future - Northumberland Executive Women Network Event Tomorrow, Kate Dawson will be speaking at Northumberland Executive Women Network's October event. Jacqui Henderson CBE, set up the Northumberland Executive Women Network after reflecting on different experiences that have happened over her interesting and challenging career. Jacqui thought it would be wonderful to bring together other successful women who might want to offer their help and support to young women in Northumberland.

' After much consideration I decided that one way to achieve this would be to find a way of harnessing the multiple skills, talent, expertise and experience of some of the many successful women who live or work across Northumberland.

I finally took the plunge to set up the Northumberland Executive Women network and am delighted to have attracted so many executive women who have already committed to being part of this idea. I’m hoping that others who also feel passionately about improving the future opportunities for young women who will want to join us. I sincerely believe if we can harness the vast collective experience and knowledge of women who are already successful we can make a real difference to the lives of the next generation. Through sharing our personal experiences and creating successful role models as well as offering developmental activities including workshops and coaching opportunities, we would help more young women play a key role in the social and economic well-being of our local and regional economy.' Jacqui Henderson CBEChair of Find Your Future

NEW Network's mission is to:

• Help young women to build confidence and optimism • Encourage motivation and ambition • Highlight the impact of perseverance and determination • Promote respect, inclusion and honesty • Showcase success in many forms Network meetings are held every two months in Northumberland. At each of the events networking opportunities, stimulating discussions and exploration of new ideas are offered  in order to bring their mission and values to life. They aim to not only help young women find their future, but help their  members achieve their ambitions too. Tomorrow's meeting will be taking place in the Gallery Restaurant at the Ashington campus of Northumberland College (the college that our former apprentices Becky and Mandy attended). Lil Collingham; Steph Edusei and Kate Dawson, and three founding NEW Network members, will be giving a short presentation on their career pathway with some personal reflections either of the challenges or opportunities that they’ve experienced along the way. 'I am sure I’m not alone in being fascinated to hear how other people have arrived at a certain career destination at a given time in their lives. One of the prime factors which encouraged me to set up Find Your Future was the lack of information or indeed knowledge of the many successful women in the Northeast who make a positive impact on the economic, cultural and social well being of the region. We are fortunate to have so many of you as members of the Network and although we haven’t addressed this lack of public awareness yet it is one of our primary objectives. Just as an aside I was a guest at the North East Chamber of Commerce celebrations at Durham Cathedral last month and out of the 800 people there I would estimate that less than 20% were women.' Jacqui Henderson CBE
