Who Made your Clothes? Rachel Robinson

Rachel Robinson joined The All-in-One Company as the first ever In-House Designer.

Rachel's passion for designing has been with her since she was a little girl. Rachel would make clothes for her dolls when her dancing costumes were too small.

'At 14 I made a stall as part of the gifted & talented programme where I sold handmade jewellery & personalised items such as mugs & calendars. All profits went towards a charity that helped stray animals.

From then I realized my passion for designing and making things and I knew I wanted to be a designer who would do things with ethics in mind since it felt so good to know that what I had done at 14 had helped animals in need.

At 16 I started my own company, BubbleBang that recycled and reused old vinyl records and vintage fabrics and turned them into bags. This helped prevent things going into landfill.

I went to Northumbria University and completed a Degree in Fashion Design and Marketing. On placement year I worked as an assistant print designer at Wescott Designs and then at New Look in London. This is when I discovered my love of print and illustration.

My final year Project focused on brining a sense of nostalgia and sentiment into clothing - creating clothes that mean something and provide the wearer with comfort. It was all about bringing home comforts away from home, so you feel comfortable wherever you are. My collection was called 'Nana's House'.

I feel as though my previous experience has helped me understand and appreciate The All-in-One Company's values and ethics. Creating products in the UK is no easy feat, but more people should be trying to bring manufacture back here.

The All-in-One Company produces unique personalised products filled with sentimental value. It was this aspect that drew me to the company after the work I completed at Uni based around garments with feeling.

Whilst at The All-in-One Company I have worked on a range of different things from designing - graphic design, fashion design and interior design.I have helped re-brand the company, with things such as our 'Thank You' Card, I have introduced branded packaging, and done my best to ensure that the quality of The All-in-One Company's products is reflected in every aspect of the company.

It has been very exciting and rewarding to see my ideas and designs come to life here and i'm looking forward to seeing what my future holds.'
