Phillip's Onesie Adventure - The Beginning

We're so excited to show you our first customer blog in our Guest Blogspot! Phillip has told us all about his onesieadventure - around the world! Now we'd like to share it with you too...! Onesies Around The World   DAY 1 - The Beginning Friday March the 7th begun like another Friday morning. Up around 7am, put the radio on, check the news etc.. But this day was different. Today was the beginning of something massive, an adventure, an achievement. This was the day of departure. Because at 4:15pm on this day, flight QF9 will take off from Melbourne Tullamarine Airport and begin the long journey to London via Dubai. Blessed am I that I had my loving Mum & Dad here to see me off. We went up to my local favourite restaurant  “Funkies”  to have breakfast and coffee. After breakfast it was back home to do final checks of luggage etc. All was checked off and I showered and got changed for the flight. I also made sure the all important onesies were packed.. Although I only packed 2 as I knew I would “stock up” while away. So a little before midday, we set off for the Airport. All is normal in the car. Listening to The Ray Hadley Morning Show on the radio, general chatter and of course that added concentration on the road to ensure I get to the airport safely. All of course was fine, got to the airport a little after midday. Had a cup of tea with Mum and Dad as we had to wait a little for check-in to open. Once check-in opened, it was into the First Class check-in suite and I checked-in for my flight.. QF9 to London in Seat 2A. I said my goodbyes to Mum and Dad and I went through immigration into the Chairmans Lounge to sip on champagne and have a light lunch and massage before departure. 3:30pm came around and I was called for boarding. First on the flight, I was able to settle in to my surrounds all in my own time. Another glass or 3 of champagne and nibbles and I was all set for take off. 4:15 arrived and we get clearance for departure. Push back begins and so does my adventure. Onesies Around The World Flying time to Dubai 14 hours. Soon into the flight, canapés and drinks are served and then dinner service commenced. After dinner it was time for a snooze, and all of a sudden 8hrs later, I awake with just only 4hrs from Dubai. A short 90 minute stopover in Dubai was just what the doctor ordered. Time for a shower, a drink and then back on QF9 with the famous Dave Evans, our pilot, for this sector. Dave Evans, was onboard the ill fated QF32 who had an engine blow just after take off from Singapore to Sydney in 2009. The aircraft landed safely and no one was injured. 7hrs later, its arrival into London at 5am. Landing on schedule in at London's Heathrow Airport at 5am, it was quickly through immigration and my bags were one of the first off. I was out of Heathrow in 30 minutes. If ever there was something to look forward to after a gruelling 24hr flight from melbourne, then this is it... Checking into the finest of 5 star hotels on the planet.. 150 Piccadilly, London. The Ritz Hotel. Just after 7am, my chauffeur drops me in at the Ritz Hotel. Immediately, I am greeted with that old world charm and hospitality by all staff at The Ritz who are working on this saturday morning. Onesies Around The World As its early, my room wasn’t ready, so I am offered a temporary facility to freshen up, take a shower and get my bearings.. It is breakfast time and I am feeling a little peckish and craving for that famous English Breakfast Tea. I go to breakfast having changed into much more casual attire (track pants, t - shirt & trainers… ) However much to my surprise, I was asked to change into more formal attire for breakfast. Men must wear minimum, dress pants, collared shirt and dress shoes. So back up to the room I go, get changed and back down I come and all is forgiven. I now tuck into a fine English breakfast, complete with a pot of tea which really quenched my thirst as I was a little de-hydrated from the flight. This next paragraph will really set the Ritz apart from any other hotel.. As small and insignificant this might be, it really said something to me. I ask reception (thinking they will show me where to go and find this) where can I get a sim card for my phone… Next thing i knew, old mate at concierge was already on his way up the street to find me one. Now hows that for service. Once he returned, I was connected to the world again and showing everyone back home how delightful this place is. After breakfast I return to my room to make a few calls home to let family and friends know I have arrived safely and all is well. Before long, I am in contact with a very old mate who I caught up with later that afternoon in Brixton and had some dinner and more cups of tea.   Watch our blog space for part 2 of Phillip's story (we're gripped already!!!)
